The Office: The Movie Floated by a Surprising Source
Bryan Cranston, who directed an episode of The Office in its ninth season, has proposed an exciting idea for a potential revival of the beloved sitcom: a movie.
Cranston’s Idea for The Office Revival Movie
In a recent appearance on the Office Ladies podcast, hosted by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, Bryan Cranston suggested the concept of a feature-length movie that would follow the lives of the Dunder Mifflin gang ten years after the original series finale.
He stated, “Let’s say that there’s not a reboot series, but what if there was a movie? Something to where we can see where these people are. These people in the entire cast that we’re curious about. We wondered at the end, where did they go? What did become of them?”
Reception from Office Ladies and Greg Daniels
Both Fischer and Kinsey expressed enthusiasm for the idea, but they emphasized the importance of having Greg Daniels, the show’s original showrunner, involved in the project.
Fischer stated, “Because I would trust it. You know? As long as Greg is writing it and he’s in charge of it, then I say yes.”
Kinsey added, “I would do it for my kids because I think they would think that’s fun.”
However, Daniels has previously expressed his disinterest in doing a reboot with the original cast or characters.
Bryan Cranston’s Potential Role in The Office Movie
Despite his eagerness for the movie idea, Cranston expressed his desire for a minor role.
“I just want to be an extra in it,” he said. “I would be some guy. I’d be a crossing guard or something like that. Just something.”
Kinsey, however, suggested a more prominent role for Cranston as one of Dwight’s (Rainn Wilson) hired hands at Schrute Farms.
Possibilities for Guest Appearances and Creed’s Continued Presence
In a discussion about the rumored reboot with a new cast on her podcast, Fischer mentioned her willingness to make a guest appearance as Pam, while Kinsey enthusiastically agreed.
They both agreed that if there’s one character who would still be firmly seated at Dunder Mifflin, it would be Creed (Creed Bratton).
Where to Watch The Office
Currently, all nine seasons of The Office are available to stream on Peacock.
While the possibility of a The Office movie revival with the original cast remains uncertain, the idea has generated excitement among fans and the show’s stars. The future of this potential project depends on the involvement of Greg Daniels and whether he decides to embrace the idea of a big-screen reunion.
