Watch Saturday Night Live Online: Ayo Edebiri Apologizes to Jennifer Lopez for Past Criticism
In a hilarious sketch on this week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live,” Ayo Edebiri took the opportunity to apologize to Jennifer Lopez for past criticism of her singing abilities. The comedian, now 28, admitted that she was wrong after previously dissing Lopez’s singing abilities during an appearance on the “Scam Goddess” podcast in 2020.
“SNL”: Ayo Edebiri Apologizes to Jennifer Lopez for Past Criticism
During the sketch, Edebiri appeared with Kenan Thompson, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, and Chloe Fineman in a skit called “Why’d You Say It?” where game show contestants were asked to explain their questionable Instagram comments. Edebiri addressed her past criticism of Lopez, 54, during an appearance on the “Scam Goddess” podcast in 2020.
“It’s wrong to leave mean comments or post comments just for clout or run your mouth on a podcast and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid,” Edebiri said during the sketch. “But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we’re going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online.”
Edebiri previously insulted Lopez, 54, during an appearance on the “Scam Goddess” podcast in 2020.
Despite those past comments, the two women appeared to be on good terms when they appeared together in promos for their “Snl” episode. “I’m really excited. I love your show,” Lopez told the newly crowned Emmy winner. To which Edebiri replied, “I love your everything.”
Jennifer Lopez Suffers Hair Malfunction on ‘SNL’: Watch
Jennifer Lopez delivered another pair of standout performances on Saturday Night Live. During her Feb. 3 appearance on the iconic NBC sketch comedy show, hosted by Emmy-winning The Bear star Ayo Edebiri, the 54-year-old superstar singer and actress performed two songs from her upcoming ninth studio album, This Is Me… Now.
For her first dazzling performance, J.Lo was joined by rappers Latto and Redman on a new version of “Can’t Get Enough,” the first single from her forthcoming album. While performing the breezy, summery track in a stylish cropped black-and-white suit, Lopez suffered a slight hair malfunction and was spotted ripping out a hair extension as she expertly executed her impressive dance moves.
For her second song, with an intro from Edebiri, J.Lo stepped out in a jaw-dropping flowery pink dress to perform “This Is Me… Now,” the title track of her new album. This marked Lopez’s fourth appearance as Musical guest on SNL. She last appeared on the late-night show as host in 2019 and most recently performed in 2010.
