Alcock is set to make her debut as Supergirl in a solo feature film titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is based on the 2022 comic book series of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
No director has been announced for the project yet, but it is expected to be released after Superman: Legacy (2025), which is currently in production.
There have been rumors that Alcock‘s Supergirl may also appear in Superman: Legacy (2025), but this has not been confirmed.
James Gunn Praises Milly Alcock‘s Performance and Shares His Vision for the New Supergirl
James Gunn, who is writing and directing Superman: Legacy (2025), took to social media to praise Alcock‘s casting and share his vision for the new Supergirl.
“Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU,” Gunn wrote on Instagram. “Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl.”
“She embodies Kara as envisioned by @tomking_tk, @bilquis and Ana Nogueira,” he added.
Gunn also revealed that the new Supergirl will be a more hardcore character than the one we’re used to seeing.
“In our series we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl,” Gunn said at a recent press event.
“She’s much more hardcore; she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”

More recently, Sasha Calle played a version of Supergirl in last year’s film The Flash.
