Kenya Moore Open to Porsha Williams Comeback, Teases Plans for ‘Dynamic’ Season 16
RHOA Star Kenya Moore Open to Porsha Williams Comeback, Teases Details for ‘Electric’ Season 16
In an exclusive interview with Page Six, Moore disclosed her acknowledgment of the remarkable chemistry she shared with Porsha Williams, acknowledging their entertaining impact as “frenemies” on the popular Bravo reality show.
“I believe we made outstanding television together. You know, I believe we’re the best frenemies. Some of the best times on that show have been created with me and Porsha,” Moore, 53, founder of Kenya Moore Haircare, shared.
“Some of the most iconic moments have been created with us being onscreen together. So I feel like that magic could still exist if she comes back.”
Williams, 42, made the “challenging decision” to depart from the show in September 2021 before Season 14 after a decade of being a part of the program.
She had declared at the time that she was ready to “start [her] next chapter.”
Since then, the civil rights activist has tied the knot. In November 2022, she exchanged vows with Nigerian businessman Simon Guobadia.
Moore proceeded to add that the casting process for the forthcoming Season 16 of RHOA is almost “finalized.”
The actress projects that the process will conclude “within the next 30 days” and that filming will commence in the spring.
“I believe they’re 100 percent focused on developing a dynamic new cast with some oldies and some newbies,” she hinted.
“So we’ll see. We’ll see. Season 16 might just be as sweet as you want it to be.”
Moore holds out hope for Williams’ return, but she expressed doubt about the possibility of series OG NeNe Leakes rejoining, as Leakes filed a racism and discrimination lawsuit against the Bravo network, executive producer Andy Cohen, and others in April 2022.
Although she withdrew the lawsuit four months later, Moore is certain that Leakes, 56, who left the program in September 2020 prior to Season 13, has sealed her destiny.
“I pretty much know the door is closed on NeNe,” the mother of one disclosed to us.
“You know, I believe Andy has stated it himself that he’ll keep her name out of his mouth. So I believe I have to state that it’s not a possibility.”
Our conversation with Moore preceded the news that Kandi Burruss would not be making a return to RHOA after a record-breaking 14 years.
“I’ve decided I’m not coming back this year,” Burruss revealed on Sunday’s 2024 Grammy Awards red carpet.
“It’s been 14 seasons, and they allowed us to sit around for a little too long,” she remarked, referring to the unusually extended hiatus between Season 15, which concluded in September 2023, and Season 16, amidst rumors of a substantial cast shakeup.
“But during that time, I had started working on a lot of other things, and I got some nice big projects coming soon, so I’m super excited about those things.”
The multi-hyphenate, 47, noted that it wasn’t merely the gap between seasons that influenced her decision to step back.
“It’s just like, you know, after you really have time to think, and a friend of mine was like, ‘Why do you keep doing it?’ And I was like, ‘Well, I think because I’ve just been doing it so long, feels weird to think not to do it?’” she reflected.
“So I was just like, ‘You know what? I’m going to take a break. I’m going to take a moment.’”
The cast of Season 15 included Burruss, Moore, Shereé Whitfield, Drew Sidora, Sanya Richards-Ross, and Marlo Hampton.
Kandi Burruss Confirms RHOA Exit and Discloses Andy Cohen’s Reaction (Exclusive)
Kandi Burruss has verified her departure from RHOA and shared Andy Cohen’s reaction to her decision.
The longest-running member of the show and the entire franchise, Burruss, 47, stated to ET’s Nischelle Turner on the red carpet at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards that she is taking a step back from the franchise after 14 seasons with the show to concentrate on other projects and her family.
“I’ve been going back and forth, and I think because they gave us such a long break, I had a lot of time to do other things, and I’ve got some big announcements to make coming soon, so yeah,” Kandi told ET.
“I mean, I love the girls, they’re my friends, I’m still gonna see them and hang out with them. And Bravo is my family, I love them as well, but you know.”
Kandi has the lengthiest tenure in the show’s 15-season history, appearing in every season with the exception of season 1. She is also the longest-running Housewife in all of the various shows aired by Bravo.
“Somebody asked me recently, they were like, ‘Well, why do you keep doing it?’ and I was like, ‘To be honest with you, I think because I’ve been doing it 14 years.’ And so now, I feel like it’s — I do it because I’m used to doing it. But with all the other things I got going on,” she remarked, providing a justification for her departure.
Season 15 of RHOA ended in January 2023 and aired from May to September. Kandi and the other cast members have subsequently had a year off from filming, giving them the opportunity to pursue other interests.
“I think when they decided, they were like, ‘OK, we’re taking this break, you know, rearrange the cast and all this other kind of stuff,’ and then it’s like, it gave me time, you know, I never have time — I never had time.”
For Kandi, this meant devoting her energy to her numerous business ventures and family. The Housewife and her husband, Todd Tucker, are extraordinary producers who recently produced Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker’s The Pass, which aired on Peacock.
“I’m doing Broadway and I — you know we have The Wiz that’s coming,” she remarked, referencing her role as a producer on the revival that is currently touring the United States.
“I’m excited for that, and then I got some more things to announce in that lane, as well. You know, too much, I don’t wanna talk too much ahead of time.”
Kandi told ET that while she finds it challenging to imagine a situation in which she does not return to The Real Housewives Of Atlanta for season 16, she is thrilled about the future and the potential that lies ahead for her and the show.
“I think because when you do something for 14 years consistently, it’s kind of hard to think [of] not to do it, but then it’s just kind of like, you know, what am I tripping? I’m busy,” she remarked.
As for what Bravo-lebrity Andy Cohen thought about Kandi’s departure, she revealed that they had discussions and that he reassured her that the door was always open for her to return, as many people within the franchise often do.
“He called and — cause I’ve talked to him about it — and he said, well — I don’t — he was like, ‘I
