ZEROBASEONE’s Kim Ji Woong Denies Cursing During Fan Video Call, Agency Promises Investigation
Kim Ji Woong, Video Call Fan, and Fan Call Event
The controversy erupted on February 2 when an anonymous individual shared a video clip on X, formerly Twitter, showcasing what seemed to be a screen recording of a fan call with Kim Ji Woong. The purported incident occurred at the conclusion of the call when, after bidding farewell to the fan, an unidentified voice was heard uttering a curse word in Korean.
In the accompanying post according to Soompi, the individual questioned the appropriateness of using offensive language, “Do you usually say [expletive] as a goodbye when ending a phone call with a fan? I don’t know, so I’m curious about the opinion of ZEROSE [ZEROBASEONE’s fandom].”
Adding fuel to the fire, a second video surfaced, this time capturing the initial moments of the call. The accuser claimed, “As soon as the [call] started, he sighed and acted like he looks down on fans. Why should the fan pay tons of money and then have to walk on eggshells during the conversation..? I didn’t say anything weird or ask him to do a strange challenge, and it wasn’t my fault. It was 100 percent Kim Ji Woong’s fault, and there was no cause [for him to act like this]. I think I was probably just unlucky.. I’m upset.”
ZEROBASEONE’s Agency Responds to Video Call Sign Event Allegations
Responding promptly to the allegations, WAKEONE Entertainment, the agency representing ZEROBASEONE, issued a statement the following day. They stated, “After checking with [Kim Ji Woong] himself, [the claim] is not true. We also checked with the employee and translator that were present at the scene.” The agency asserted its commitment to uncovering the truth through objective means, “For the sake of objective accuracy, WAKEONE will very clearly and definitively ascertain the truth by using various methods including digital media forensics, and we will protect our artist.”
Fan Reactions to the Fan Signing Event Controversy
The incident has sparked a divided response among fans, with some expressing skepticism about the authenticity of the allegations and others demanding a thorough investigation to ascertain the truth behind the controversy.
Some fans have pointed out that the audio quality of the video clip is poor, making it difficult to determine whether the voice heard uttering the curse word is actually Kim Ji Woong’s. Others have suggested that the clip may have been edited or manipulated in order to damage Kim Ji Woong’s reputation.
On the other hand, some fans have expressed concern that the allegations may be true and that Kim Ji Woong may have indeed used offensive language towards the fan. They have called for a thorough investigation by WAKEONE Entertainment and have demanded that Kim Ji Woong apologize for his actions if the allegations are proven to be true.
The Importance of Fan Idol Respect
The controversy surrounding Kim Ji Woong’s alleged use of offensive language during a Fan Signing event highlights the importance of mutual respect between fans and idols. Fans should be treated with respect by idols, and idols should be mindful of their words and actions when interacting with fans.
It is important to remember that fans are the ones who support idols and make their careers possible. Without fans, idols would not be able to achieve their dreams. Therefore, it is essential that idols show their fans the respect that they deserve.
