Dakota Johnson’s Insult War With Please Don’t Destroy Team Digs Into Nepo Babies
Johnson Roasts Please Don’t Destroy on SNL
Dakota Johnson found herself in a roast battle with Please Don’t Destroy on this week’s SNL. “I’ve always wanted to meet the Lonelier Island,” she told them, before brokering a nepo baby truce.
Dakota Johnson Destroys Please Don’t Destroy in Roast Battle
It’s another week of Saturday Night Live, which means another week of the show’s host swinging by the Please Don’t Destroy office. “I’ve seen all your videos,” Dakota Johnson tells them, before things take a turn, “They’re really not for me.”
Tensions escalate when she can’t help but laugh at the thought of one of them playing her boyfriend, “Is it like a Make-A-Wish thing?” Even worse, she tells them, “I’ve always wanted to meet the Lonelier Island,” igniting a full on roast battle.
“Do you still have to audition or do they just give you the part as soon as Aubrey Plaza says no?” Martin Herlihy asks. When the conversation turns to which will be the bigger box office flop, Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain or Johnson’s upcoming film Daddio, she hits them with, “Is Daddio who you called to get your job?”
John Higgins and Herlihy are the sons of Snl writers and producers Steve Higgins and Tim Herlihy, but of course, Johnson is a nepo baby in her own right as the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffin. As a result, we have a brief moment of peace where they all (except normal baby Ben Marshall), unite in a “nepo truce,” reciting the slogan, “A foot in the door and so much more.”
SNL: Dakota Johnson’s Roast Battle With Please Don’t Destroy Team Digs Into Nepo Babies
In an SNL video with Dakota Johnson and Please Don’t Destroy, things go downhill as Johnson and the boys trade cutting remarks.
“I’ve seen all your videos,” Johnson tells the trio. “They’re really…not for me.”
“Not how i expected you to come in here,” Ben Marshall responds. “Must be that dry sense of humor.”
In the end, the group (at least most of them) bond over their status as Nepo babies. John Higgins’ father is Steve Higgins, longtime Snl writer and current announcer for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Martin Herlihy’s father, Tim Herlihy, was also an SNL writer who co-wrote Happy Gilmore with Adam Sandler.
Johnson’s father, of course, is actor Don Johnson. Ben Marshall’s parents are not famous, which results in one last moment of disrespect for him.
It’s the Battle of the Nepo Babies as Dakota Johnson Roasts Please Don’t Destroy on ‘SNL’
This week’s Saturday Night Live brought us Dakota Johnson back in the hosting gig. What was new this time around was that she had to deal with Please Don’t Destroy. The guys — Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy — want to be friends with Johnson but that doesn’t seem likely.
In a new short by the Comedy team, we get to watch as Johnson goes to a brainstorming session that was quickly derailed when she couldn’t stop making fun of the guys. They also tried to make fun of her back, but it really didn’t work.
This sketch was definitely one of the better PDD sketches and a definite must-see.
