Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Felicitates Chiranjeevi
Telugu Cinema legend Chiranjeevi was felicitated by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Sunday, days after it was announced that he would be honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award.
Chiranjeevi, known for his iconic roles in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada films, expressed his gratitude for the honour, but revealed that he was not initially excited about it.
Chiranjeevi’s Candid Admission
In his speech, Chiranjeevi shared his true feelings about receiving the Padma Vibhushan. He said, “People in my house asked me how I felt after receiving the Padma Vibhushan, and I said I felt good. But, truth be told, I was much happier after receiving the Padma Bhushan award. After so many years, I was awarded the Padma Vibhushan and I was not at all excited. Sure, I was happy and I knew that I had to acknowledge this award with dignity and respect, and I did that.”
Chiranjeevi went on to explain what truly brought him happiness: “But it was truly the support that I got after receiving the award that made my heart fill with joy. So many people came forward to congratulate me. From people in the cinema industry, people from various organizations and associations to the politicians seated here at this event. It is the love that was showered upon me in this last week or so that gave me so much more happiness than actually receiving the award.”
Chiranjeevi’s Political Aspirations
Chiranjeevi’s felicitation by Telangana CM Revanth Reddy sparked speculation about the actor’s potential entry into politics. However, Chiranjeevi has repeatedly denied any political ambitions, stating that he is content with his career in the film industry.
Chiranjeevi’s Upcoming Projects
Chiranjeevi is currently working on his upcoming film, Vishwambhara, directed by Vassishta of Bimbisara fame. The film is slated to release in cinemas on January 10, 2025.
Chiranjeevi’s candid admission about his feelings regarding the Padma Vibhushan award is a refreshing take on the often-formal nature of such honours. His emphasis on the love and support he received from his fans, colleagues, and politicians is a testament to his deep connection with the people of India.
