Daredevil: Born Again – Bullseye’s MCU Costume Continues a Disappointing Trend
Bullseye Yet to Get a Comic-Accurate Costume Across Three Appearances
Despite appearing in several live-action adaptations, Bullseye has yet to be given his iconic costume from Marvel Comics. Colin Farrell‘s version of the character simply wore a long coat and had a scar that looked like a bullseye on his forehead. This isn’t too surprising given how most comic book characters looked in 2000s adaptations. Characters like the X-Men were similarly given costumes that were significantly toned down compared to the comics.
Bullseye‘s next appearance in live action came in Daredevil season 3 on Netflix. This version starts out as an FBI agent who later poses as Daredevil to frame him. Because Bullseye spent a lot of time in the Daredevil suit, it made sense he wouldn’t get his own. Netflix‘s Daredevil was canceled after this season, meaning Bullseye never got a chance to appear in his iconic costume. Though audiences might expect the MCU to make up for this, recent set photos make it seem like Bullseye is still not getting his comic book accurate costume.
Bullseye Deserves a Comic-Accurate Suit As Much As Daredevil
Bullseye not getting a comic accurate suit wouldn’t be as big of a deal if it was just what Daredevil: Born Again was going for. However, it is clear from Daredevil‘s new, brighter costume that the MCU show is leaning in to the comics even more than the Netflix version. As such, it would be understandable to expect that Bullseye to get the same treatment in the new show, but so far it seems like that isn’t going to happen.
There is still hope that Bullseye could turn up in his comic book costume at some point, as these set photos may be of an earlier encounter with Bullseye before a redesign. Falcon and the Winter Soldier waited until the season finale to put Sam in a Captain America suit, and Daredevil originally waited a season to give Matt Murdock his red devil costume. Daredevil: Born Again could just be following this trend, and could still give audiences a full Bullseye costume at some point.
Bullseye is a popular Marvel character who has yet to get a comic-accurate costume in live action. His appearances in the 2003 Daredevil film, Netflix‘s Daredevil series, and the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ have all featured different takes on the character’s iconic suit. While some fans may be disappointed by this, there is still hope that Bullseye will eventually get his comic-accurate costume in the MCU.
